Discover What You Secretly Wish To Feel
Five Steps To Being Your Best Self
In the last “Being Remarkable” article entitled, “Design the Life Of Your Best Self” we started a discussion about being your Best Self.
In the last article, I revealed my longing for every Allumé teammate to feel they are being their Best Self, and then introduced the Five Steps to Being Your Best Self:
- Discover What You Secretly Wish To Feel
- Imagine Your Feelings As Goals
- Be Your Vision Now
- Activate the Rituals of Your Best Self
- Experience Daily Harvest
Today let’s start with the first step…
Discover What You Secretly Wish To Feel
So often we focus on an outcome or object we desire: more money, new job, dream vacation, thin body, loving partner, fancy home, pretty jewelry, etc.
I recommend instead to first focus on how you want to feel.
Notice that what you really crave out of that desired outcome or object is actually a feeling.
Shrouded in your desire for a “thing” or “outcome” lives a secret wish for an unmet feeling you crave…
- Being debt-free might make you feel secure, hopeful, relieved, proud, or satisfied.
- Having a beautiful home might make you feel inspired, established, elegant, safe, content, or important.
- Going on a dream vacation might make you feel excited, adventurous, relaxed, restful, peaceful, or festive.
- A thin body might make you feel beautiful, acceptable, lovable, precious, sexy, worthy, or fun.
- A loving partner might make you feel adored.
What do you secretly wish to feel?
Below is a list of popular feeling words to help you explore and ponder what you want to feel. Or use a thesaurus to help you find the precise words that describe how your Best Self feels.
