Allume Advocates at Appropriations Committee Hearing

 In Advocacy, Being Remarkable, Covid-19

Allume was proud to advocate for better access to home health services, in particular, continuous skilled nursing services.  Thank you Coco Sellman, Frank Sellman, Christine Schmidlin, Irene Espin, and Richard Bernier for your testimony and advocacy.

Fueled by years of inadequate Medicaid rates and limited ability to recruit and retain workforce, several members of the CT Association for Healthcare at Home (CAHCH) testified before the Appropriations Committee Wednesday, March 3, 2021, addressing the Governor’s Budget on Human Services.

Here is a summary of urged requests before the committee:

  • Needed now…Raise Home Health Medicaid non-waiver rates to current waiver rates
  • With each annual budget beginning July 1, 2021, include consistent increases for both non-waiver and waiver services (Home Health and Homemaker-Companion)
  • Immediate funding relief is needed for Continuous Skilled Nursing rates (medically fragile pediatric and adults)
  • Implement a Medicaid Social Work rate for Home Health Social Work visits.
