Governor Lamont COVID-19 and Vaccine Update- 5/6/2021

Governor Lamont held a press conference on May 10, 2021, on the state’s response efforts to COVID-19.

The Governor was joined by Chief of Staff Paul Mounds, Chief Operating Officer Josh Geballe, the Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner David Lehman, Senator Doug McCrory, and Senator Joan Hartley.


COVID-19 Metrics: The state’s positivity rate is 1.92%, hospitalizations continue to trend down, and there have been 8,131 COVID-related fatalities. Furthermore, no nursing home deaths have occurred for the first time in a year this week.


Vaccine Update: A total of 3,289,783 doses have been administered, with 1,467,381 individuals fully vaccinated. By the end of the week, 70% of Connecticut adults will have received their first dose of the vaccine. Additionally, the Administration is preparing for the possibility of an FDA COVID-19 vaccine authorization for adolescents aged 12 to 15.


CT Future Fund Investing in Equity & Jobs:

Eviction Moratorium: The Administration expects the eviction moratorium to last at least another month after May 20th.

American Rescue Plan Funding: Prior to the May 16th deadline, Senator Hartley briefly discussed that the Legislature plans to hold a public hearing to gather feedback about how ARPA funds should be distributed throughout the state. However, no date has been announced as of yet.
